When to use

There are two crucial times to use capsules:

  • Lambing places great stress and metabolic demand on ewes, resulting in a suppressed immune system. At this time they are more vulnerable to the health and productivity effects of gastrointestinal parasites.
  • Treatment of ewes prior to lambing provides 100-days protection against gastrointestinal parasites over the lambing period – leaving ewes better able to focus on meeting the lambs’ nutritional requirements.
  • Reduced worm burdens means better ewe condition and increased liveweight. On top of this, protein and energy allowances are channelled into milk production rather than fighting off worm infection.1
  • With better milk supply from ewes, lambs are better nourished resulting in an improved lamb survival rate.
  • Capsule treatment assists to reduce pasture contamination by removing existing worm burdens in the ewe. Therefore reducing re-infection from newly ingested larvae.2

  •  As with ewes, capsule use helps keep weaners healthy and reduces parasite infection. This allows more essential nutrients to be channelled into improving condition and liveweight during this crucial growth phase.1
  • 100-day control of worms helps reduce pasture contamination.
  • Lambs should be treated to coincide with high worm challenge.
